Vickers Wellington
The twin engined Vickers Wellington was the most mass produced bomber of the second World War. It utilised geodetic construction methods devised by Barnes Wallace making a very robust structure.. A total of 11,461 Vickers Wellingtons were built at Weybridge (Brooklands), Chester (Broughton) and Blackpool (Fylde). Only two remain, one at Brooklands Museum and the other ar RAF Museum at Cosford. I have a special personal relationship with the Wellington as my father flew Wellingtons during WWII while he served in 192 Squadron of the RAF's Bomber Command, hence these photographs.
